Case #4

79 Y.O. very active gentleman who is pacemaker dependent, who had a pacemaker placed 6 years ago. He is status post placement of a bioprosthetic aortic valve 2 years ago, and at the time had a fractured atrial lead. A new atrial lead was placed at that time. While playing golf, he noted a prominent bulge in his skin.

a) 6 Week course of antibiotics.

b) Replace device, and 4 weeks of antibiotics.

c) Remove device and place new pacemaker system on the right side.

d) Remove device, extract pacemaker leads, wait for several days and place a new pacemaker system on the right side.
