“Low Probability of Dying” Arryhthmias

In some cases, it is rare for the actual arrhythmia to cause death. Typically, these arrhythmias are supraventricular tachycardias or SVT. These arrhythmias can cause a sensation of the heart beating fast. Sometimes it can cause people to pass out. These arrhythmias can have different electrical mechanisms within the heart and typically involve the top chambers or atria.

These mechanisms include extra electrical connections within the heart, and sometimes electrical storms within the top chamber of the heart. In some cases, an extra connection between the top and bottom chambers of the heart can make the heart beat too fast. Sometimes these arrhythmias are due to a small patch of tissue in the heart which overtakes the natural pacemaker system. Other times, various types of electrical storms can occur in the top chamber of the heart.

People with an extra connection between the top and bottom chambers of the heart can cause arrhythmias and can be treated with medical therapy or ablation therapy. Ablation therapy can have a 90-95% chance for cure.
